The Flaming Montipora coral is quite attractive with it's rich glowing red saturation. This cultured live coral has been growing nicely in our aquaculture facility for some time now and will look fantastic in your reef aquarium!

All our Montipora frags for sale have been healing a minimum of 3 months prior to becoming available online. 

Montipora corals are remarkably popular among hobbyists and collectors alike for good reason. The colors are phenomenal and they are one of the easiest SPS corals to care for. Montipora occurs in branching, plating, and encrusting forms with a wide variety of hues including vibrant pinks, neon greens, purples, oranges and countless other variations! It is safe to say this genus does not require high lighting and can easily be housed in aquariums where fluorescent and LED's are present.

Montipora corals possess a rather fragile skeletal structure and do not need as intense water movement as their relatives, Acropora. They require just enough flow so that debris does not collect on the coral. Make sure to leave plenty of space for expansion as this live coral is a very rapid grower. The Montipora coral is not regarded as aggressive, however still has the potential to sting other more sensitive inhabitants of the reef aquarium. And generally it is quite safe to place multiple Montipora species adjacent to each other. Plating types such as M. Capricornis are among the fastest growers and in 2-3 years time can exceed 7'' in diameter if properly cared for.

The addition of iodide and trace elements is also beneficial for increased coloration.

Montipora corals receive a great deal of their nutrition via photosynthesis, however also need to be fed for prolonged health. They eat many kinds of nearly pureed meaty foods, Reef Roids, or live phytoplankton. In nature these corals feast on zooplankton and various other forms of micro fauna which drift throughout the water column. Montipora such as the Flaming Montipora are night time feeders so it is best to target feed 1-2 hours after the lights are off or early in the morning before the lights are on.
