Our God of Beast Mode Mushroom Coral for sale is likely the most impressive Discosoma any beginner hobbyist can add to their collection. The purple splash of its center sprinkled with luminous neons is really captivating. It photographs exquisitely and is equally impressive in person. A clear victory for being one of the most unique discosoma mushroom corals we have cultivated over the years.
Fully Aqua-Cultured
Care: Beginner
Size: Varied
The best part is that any reefer can succeed with this special Disco coral. Unlike Ricordea Yuma, it will not get sick and wipe out all others of its type in your tank. Make no mistake, Yuma's are beautiful, but the investment doesn't always go as planned. Rhodactis is another great beginner coral, as it is equally easy to care for, but I personally have a passion for Discosoma corals.
The God of Beast Mode has been developing in our systems for nearly 5 years. It began as a single fragment and has since grown into dozens, if not hundreds, over time. It's one of those mushrooms that split themselves as they slowly travel around. Fortunately, they don't move that much, as opposed to some which never stay on the plug.
Discosoma sometimes referred to as bullseye mushrooms are a type of Corallimorph, a soft coral which doesn't possess a hard skeletal structure. There are several closely related species, including the following: Rhodactis, Amplexidiscus and Ricordea mushrooms. All of these can tolerate a wide variety of water parameters provided they are kept at whichever consistent level you choose. Do not let the alkalinity or calcium fluctuate, simply get it at a good level and keep it there.
Mushroom corals can cope with somewhat higher levels of nitrate and phosphate to which other corals such as LPS or SPS wouldn't be able to survive in. This is mostly why they are one of the best beginner corals any reef aquarium hobbyist can acquire. Starting out, it's difficult to understand all that needs to be maintained to keep a healthy reef environment. So get corals which will make the experience easier for you and more pleasurable in the long run.
Mushroom Coral Feeding
This God of Beast Mode Mushroom coral has certainly benefited from our nutrition routine. The coloration is vastly superior to when we originally acquired it. There is also an enormous difference between the amount of new mushrooms which form compared to when these are not fed as often. In the ocean, live corals are constantly snatching food which drifts by. In reef aquariums feeding corals in an appropriate way can often be overlooked.
Here at Corals of Eden, we feed our corals in moderate quantities each day and see enormous growth because of it. Discosoma mushrooms will consume small meaty foods, such as brine shrimp, mysis and others but can also benefit from smaller particulate products like reef rods. We ourselves create a mixture of various fish products and distribute the blend throughout the entire system.
Specific Water Flow
As for the water flow, the God of Beast Mode Mushroom Coral can deal with a little more movement than other mushrooms usually do well with. That being said, it tends to do better in the lower range. If you want your mushroom to fluff up and look it's best simply place it in an area that offers enough flow to not allow detritus to accumulate on either the mushroom itself or the base rock it is on. Then you should be golden.
Lighting Guide
This Discosoma Coral is truly an amazing live coral for the beginner hobbyist, and when it comes to lighting its no different. We've successfully kept the God of Beast Mode Mushroom under 50 PAR to upwards of 150 PAR. If you have a reef tank with a light, this one is for you! As with many mushroom corals, appearance will directly tell you what it prefers. If it's tissue swell up with water to the point where it looks like it could simply explode, it is not getting adequate light and needs to be moved closer to the bulb. On the contrary, if it appears as if it were being plastered flat against its reef plug, it would probably be a good idea to relocate it to a less intensively lit area.
We recommend placing a newly acquired God of Beast Mode mushroom at the lowest level in your reef for a couple days after receiving it. Afterwards slowly move it higher until it is in your desired location. Another great way to understand if your coral is receiving adequate light is by its coloring. It may loose intensity if it's not getting enough light to properly photosynthesize.
God of Beast Mode Mushroom Propagation
As far as propagation goes, the God of Beast Mode Mushroom Coral is on our top list of sustainable corals for the aquarium trade. It's a fantastic grower with nearly 0% mortality rate after fragging. These mushrooms will double in size about every couple weeks, so we cut a lot of them.
Mushrooms should be sliced directly in half through the mouth, making certain that both halves have a fully attached foot. They can be cut into more than two pieces, however we have found that simply halving eliminates most of the risk of death. They can later be fragged again after a week or two of healing without a problem. Mushrooms of this type in our systems have gotten over 1.5'' wide, so they are a medium sized live coral when fully mature.
Overall, the God of Beast Mode Mushroom Coral is a magnificent coral to add to everyone's collection. Whether it's a new enthusiast or an experienced reefer, this one is for you! The God of Beast Mode has been one of our favorites over the years and we are confident that it will exceed your expectations.
