Corals of Eden's Ring of Fire Lighting Opal Mushroom Coral for sale is a real captivator. It's the first thing you'll notice walking by it's aquarium system. There aren't many live corals out there which exceed its color intensity. Interestingly enough, more recently, this mushroom coral is developing nodules similar to that of bounce mushrooms on it's red orange rim.

Fully Aqua-Cultured

Care: Beginner

Size: Varied

If you're a beginner hobbyist looking for one of those incredible mushroom corals everyone will be talking about, this is the soft coral for you. It is simply a gorgeous live coral. Not to nullify it's beauty, but it also has a growth rate which rivals the best and it's nearly impossible to kill. Not that we've tried, well intended anyway. Jokes aside, this will very likely be one of the favorites in your collection.

As with other corallimorphs, soft corals don't require the addition of CA, ALK or MG to grow. This makes them one of the best coral types when starting out with your first reef aquarium. There's no real need for expensive dosing systems, most daily supplement additions or wicked intense lighting. Mushroom corals will also cope better that just about any other live corals with elevated nitrate and phosphates.

Mushroom Coral Feeding

The Ring of Fire Lighting Opal has a large mouth and is a voracious eater. Sometimes it's difficult to actually observe mushroom corals feeding since they tend to close up when they catch something delicious. The good news is, even if you can't see it, they most certainly grow faster after a proper feeding routine is put into practice. We feed our mushroom corals 5 - 6 times per week. If you feed your own 2-3 times a week, you will notice a significant difference in color and size after a short period of time.

Specific Water Flow

Sadly, the Ring of Fire Lighting Opal isn't the exception among mushroom corals when it comes to water flow. Like others in its genus low intermittent pulsing movement is preferred. Just don't blast these guys like an SPS coral, You won't have a mushroom left to come back to! Something consistent enough so that detritus won't build up on or around the mushroom coral and you should have great success keeping this one.

Lighting Guide

One of the best beginner corals on the market today, the Ring of Fire Lighting Opal has it all. Whether fluorescent, metal halide or actinic LED's, you're sure to enjoy its incredible color pop.

We've discovered that in our systems 50 - 100 PAR is optimal for this mushroom. Inside your reef it might do just fine with something a little different. The coral itself will show you what it prefers in your specific reef aquarium. We grow this mushroom coral under 50 - 80 PAR with fantastic results. It may do well at slightly higher levels if acclimated over time.

If you discover that your mushroom coral is looking rather flat a day or two after shipping, it either is getting too much water flow or the light is too strong where it has been placed. Try moving your frag to a lower, more protected area in your reef tank and see how it changes. On the contrary, if the mushroom coral swells up with so much water that it lifts itself up from the plug, in an attempt to get closer to the source of luminescence, that's a good clue that it isn't getting enough light where it is.

We are truly confident that should you choose to invest in this mushroom coral you will be thrilled you did! Pictures and videos don't do justice for this one.
